The Wong family opened their first Welcome Restaurant in Northern Ireland in 1973. The Stranmillis Restaurant was opened in 1982 by the then Lord Mayor, Tom Patton. Now in it’s second generation, we are celebrating our 40th year of operations!
Charlie and Michael Wong, sons of the founder, took over the restaurant in 2016.
Charlie has been working for 10 years abroad in places such as USA, Bhutan, Thailand, Singapore and Hong Kong in the Food and Beverage industry.
The Welcome Takeaways are now independently run by his cousins.
The Welcome Restaurant has won a range of awards throughout the years, including Best Belfast Restaurant, Master Chef and Egon Ronay Awards.

The translation of Chinese menu dishes sometimes varies from restaurant to restaurant, so if there is a dish of your choice that is not included in the menu, please do not hesitate to ask our staff. We cannot guarantee we can make the dish but we will try our best to cater you.
